I have to admit something to you… I am a big comic book geek. I have piles of them everywhere, and my kids are just as “into” them as I am. I also use my comic books to craft, so the kids and I thought it would be a great way to have some fun this summer. We have declared that this summer shall be the “Summer of the Superhero” and we are going to do all that we can turn our lives into a real life comic book. Hey, if it makes them happy, I’m happy, and I think it’ll be great fun!
To start, we throw a party at the beginning of the summer for all their friends. A celebration to welcome the warm weather and fun times ahead. This year, we’ve decided to make the party an epic superhero costume party. There will be a create your own superhero station, with some quick and easy DIY costume ideas that I have been sewing up in my free time. To help them accessorize, I plan to keep the kids busy and teach them how to make a superhero costume with a few simple supplies and then let their imaginations run wild.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a craft! Thank goodness for crafts kids can make or we’d all be running around with ants in our pants permanently.
