I used tool boxes for the bulk of my crafting supplies, Plus I have a tote with wheels and a handle that helps keep all my material for sewing projects together with lots of pocket inside and out to hold my patterns threads zipper lace and ribbons , and if I am taking a project to work on away from home I have a briefcase on wheels with a handle for ease of transport. You see I have a stroke several years ago and had lose the use of one hand, so I really have to make my transportation of my project easier for me to take them with me.

I keep much of my craft supplies in plastic bins in the family room; it’s an okay way to store them, not the greatest.

I am not the best at keeping myself organized in my sewing room. I do have several scrapbook totes that stack nicely to hold fabric. I also use an over-the-door shoe hanger to hold supplies and more fabric.

I try to keep organized with containers and plastic bags while I’m away. It always ends up a total mess by the time I get home!
I also use a couple sets of drawers at home (and some containers) for my beads and supplies which keeps the husband happy 🙂
I keep all current project supplies in small containers (sandwich sized) so that I can easily bring them with me.

I keep my craft supplies organized using the zipper bags that sheets and comforters come in. I have a great friend who cleans houses for a living and she gets them for me. I put like colors in one, like yarn weights in another, etc. Also great for taking projects on a trip. Put all necessary items in bag (eg: yarn, hooks or needles necessary, pattern, etc) and you are good to go.

I have my craft supplies stored in many plastic bins, but it still doesn’t feel organized. Just put away. One clever thing I do, though, is keep yarn stored in a hanging toy organizer that my daughter never put her toys in so I took to use in my craft room.

I keep all of my yarn in clear totes separated by yarn weight and fiber content. I keep my printed patterns in clear plastic sleeves in a 3 ring binder separated by project type. I keep my knitting needles in fabric needle cases separated by straight or interchangeable then by metal, wood, or bamboo needles.
I keep the rest of my crafting supplies in a rubber maid cabinet.

How do I keep my crafting organized? Boxes, bags, totes, notebooks, piles…whatever is available. Sometimes I feel the need to make more order of it all and realize the house just is not big enough!!! The main problem is that you can craft with almost anything you come in contact with, thus rendering organization, order, or classification nearly impossible.

I have so many different crafts so to keep them in totes rather than boxes that don’t always have room for the tools and crafting items would be great. Also to be able to pick up your tote and go on holiday, or craft club, or just a crafting friends for the day without loads of boxes would be so much easier. Everything in one place so much tidy er and space saving

    Organized? What’s that? LOL

But really, my crafting isn’t complete chaos. I keep my patterns sorted in paper folders. (The kind they sell for putting homework in) Works In Progress usually get stuffed in plastic grocery bags or old purses. This helps with transportation, because once I find the project I want to take with me, I can just pick up the bag and go.

Yarn goes in plastic bins, hanging shoe holders and clear plastic zip bags from sheets/comforters, etc. , separated into weights. Sewing supplies are in a multi-drawer unit from the company “Honey-Can-Do”. This tote would be perfect for the current projects I’m working on, presently kept in canvas totes next to the couch.

Each project is in a zip-top bag (Or grocery bag, if too large!) then like projects are in canvas totes. I have a small chest-of-drawers and a stack of plastic milk crates in a closet to hold supplies. Yarn is sorted by color in bags, in a laundry hamper. Other supplies hang from bags on the closet rod. Sometimes it gets to resemble the famed closet of Fibber McGee – then I know it’s time to share the wealth with fellow crafters on FreeCycle!

I use sweater organizers that you hang in the closet for my farn and various cloth totes for different crochet projects. I have shallow drawer sets for decoupage papers and card stock. Tin cans hold pens and pencils, I have a huge leather case that holds my coloring books, colored pencils and markers. I have another case for my sketch pads, watercolor and canvases. I honestly need a way to keep it all in one place. I’m into a little bit of everything and I have craft supplies everywhere. I need to win this!
