I just adore taking a low investment craft material, like paper, and turning it into something 3-dimensional. For example, when my children and I make paper chains for holidays and birthdays. Or when you can do paper folds with embellishments and make an origami piece or even a practical measure like homemade envelopes…sweet :)!!

I would like to get into this hobby but I don’t know how to do crafts. I do enjoy making the ring countdown that you place on your wall, counting the days until Christmas. We sometimes make a ring to wrap around the tree. The house just isn’t festive enough, so I guess I would love to learn how to do crafts, making a bunch of things to put on the walls for the Christmas season. Afterwards, if I knew some ideas, I think this would be a great new hobby!

I have been very interested in taking up paper quilling along with learning Origami.

Currently I use paper for making sewing patterns; quilting templates, paper piecing patterns for my quilt blocks, transfer templates for painting, crayon or color-pencil art on either clothing, or for mixed media quilt blocks.

In the past, I was collecting all types of different papers and such because I wanted to learn scrap booking. Unfortunately I have lost all those supplies to my son who has stolen everything I own and worked for the past 35 years and now I am starting over with everything (including trying to find a home).
Since becoming disabled in 2009, I am not able to do the things I used to enjoy and was a source of income such as gardening, horseback riding and training horses.

Now, because I am trying to put my life back together, I have literally forced myself into finding something I could do, so I have taken up sewing, quilting and continue to find as many other craft projects I can in order to remain sane and keep from falling into depression.

I love to design, and have given much thought into designing and selling my own greeting and postcard line here at our local store on the lake for the upcoming tourist season since I also used to do a lot of photography and have the software to utilize photo’s into my cards.

Anything crafty other than working with crochet or knitting interests me as I just have a need to design and do artwork in pretty much any form. 🙂

My love with paper started in pre-school with drawing and then learning to make paper snowflakes with just a few snips of the scissors. As a grown up I learned of the almost lost art of Victorian paper cutting that puts cut-outs in a whole new category. I love different papers for writing, and drawing and scrapbooking still. My favorite way to use paper however is to wrap presents for people I love with unique hand-crafted flourishes, representative of each recipient…the package should be as much a work of art as the gift inside, after all.

My grandchildren and I love working with paper and making all kinds of gifts for people plus for their room at my house. They are always wanting to make something and with paper is the easiest way to do it. I really enjoy working with my grandchildren at everything.
