DIY Photo Holders: GlamRox Photo Holders

June 13, 2016 by Allison Cooling

Get boho-glam with these cute DIY home decor photo holders. These wire-wrapped agates turn into dainty decorations that are perfect for putting all around your house!

They are super simple to make, too. I used acrylic scrapbooking gems to add that sparkle factor to the rocks. I chose mainly jewel tones here, but you can create these in a variety of colors – or go monochromatic with blacks, silvers and golds for a totally upscale look!

1

Step 1: Gather materials. You will need plastic rhinestone fallbacks (look in the scrapbooking aisle or even the kids crafts aisle at a craft store), Gem-Tac, agate slice pendants (make sure they have a hole in one side), 16g craft wire, wire cutters and roundness pliers.

Step 2: Glue the gems. Pick gems in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors and carefully glue to one side of your agate slices. Wait until they fully dry before moving on.

I decorated them all with complimentary tones of blue and purples.

Step 3: Wire wrap. When your agates are fully dry, cut a 10″ piece of your wire. You can use any color wire – here, I used light purple aluminum wire. Aluminum wire is softer than copper-based, but if you use 16g it should hold up just fine.

Thread up under the pendant to the top, a couple inches from the end. Wrap top part of wire to the bottom, bending up. Cut any excess wire from wrapping with your wire cutters. This secures the bottom part of your stone.

Wrap the end in a spiral, spiraling down to use up most of the wire. Leave about 4″ of wire to act as your stand. Repeat with other stones to create a whole family of photo holders!

Cut photos into cool geometric shapes to add a funky vibe. These would also look great with polaroids or Instax-type prints for a retro vibe.
