To have something that reminds me of the hours of relaxation and enjoyment I had as a child, Adult coloring books have to be one of the best things out there for the grown up, more stressed lives we lead. I personally love to bead embroider. I feel lucky I still have the dexterity to do it, and figure if beading wasn’t my thing, I’d be coloring even more. I DO color with my grandkids when they visit. It’s excellent bonding time.

Right now my favorite way to relax is with crochet, but I’ve enjoyed so many crafts over the years: sewing, knitting, embroidery, counted cross-stitch, plastic canvas, tatting, stamping, and even some painting.

One of my earliest pastimes was coloring with crayons. I received a beautiful adult coloring book for Mother’s Day, but the Crayola colored pencils gifted with them require a lot of pressure to get a decent color, and even then it’s a pale color. I very much want to try a different brand to see if I can achieve more vibrant colors.

just about any craft can calm me if its a simple pattern, weaving in plain weave with soft yarns has an easy repetition that is almost as relaxing as a warm bath. Spinning wool yarn from fleece in a saft twist is also very soothing. However, for on the go in hospitals and other stressful places I crochet simple items that help calm me.

For me, relaxation is iust sitting down at my art desk and working on my mixed media art journal or coloring while listening to my favorite jazz music. It is the best part of every day for me.

I like to make personal cards for people, using their name and adapting it to specific occasions – mostly birthdays. I include Scripture or Christian symbols on each one. I’ve done paper embroidery, 3-D floral die cuts, iris folding, etc. to make each one unique. Now I’m thinking I can do some coloring to broaden the variety! This will be fun!

I’ve bought adult coloring books for friends & relatives, but haven’t indulged for myself. I think it would be enjoyable and relaxing – I look forward to doing the owl on your site.

Coloring has a stress reliever to me for many years. I would keep a coloring book and pencils in my desk drawer for those times when I needed a break. Now coloring books are all grown up!

I’ve been crocheting ever since I checked out a beginner’s crochet book at the library 40+ years ago. It’s very stress relieving and relaxing plus I love it. I’ve made so many things for family and friends. I taught my granddaughter to crochet and she taught herself how to knit. I recommend it to everyone.

I’ve used colouring, sewing, and crafts to relax for years! I’ve past the hillcrest of middle age, so friends & family would tease me for bringing Barbie colouring books camping over the years – but that was because adult colouring books weren’t readily available. Now I have a full sized one and a pocket one for my purse, Thank you for making this Grandma look “cool” instead of crazy! 🙂

Crafting has helped me to release my depression and stress. I am in constant pain and when I’m doing things like coloring a beautiful picture, or sewing a handbag, or even putting a bracelet or necklace together is my salvation. Winning this prize would be wonderful because I’m a senior citizen on a filed income, these supplies would be just what I need.
